Posted on 5/22/2013 In this issue of the TCAP newsletter you will find successful examples of TCAP research, collaboration with Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs), and graduate student training. Eduard Akhunov (Kansas State University) and colleagues published a paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences in which they genotyped over 3,000 wheat accessions with approximately 9,000 SNPs. Read full report. The TriticeaeCAP project USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) awarded $25 million to develop new varieties of wheat and barley. The official name of the project is Triticeae Coordinated Agricultural Project (T-CAP). The T-CAP merges two large communities of US breeders: barley and wheat breeders, previously funded by the BarleyCAP and the WheatCAP programs respectively. As a result, researchers, breeders and educators across 21 states, from USDA and 55 universities compose the T-CAP consortium. |
