USDA Crop Production Report

Posted on 7/11/2014

The California winter wheat forecast, at 459,000 tons, is 56% of last year's winter wheat production, according to USDA's July 1 report.  This is mainly due to a large drop in the harvested acreage for the state.  Average winter wheat yield is estimated to be higher than last year, at 2.55 tons/acres.

California's Durum forecast is estimated at 150,000 acres, down 25% from last year. The average yield is forecast at 3.0 tons/acre, unchanged from last year.
