Woodland, CA--- The California Wheat Commission is pleased to announce that Claudia Carter has become the new Executive Director of the Commission effective June 20, 2016.
Carter was originally  hired as The California Wheat Commission's Lab Director on June 15, 2014.  Through the course of the last two years, Carter has excelled in her position as a lab director. Last year, Carter was invited to be part of  USW Crop Quality Seminars Team in the Central America region.

Roy Motter, Chairman of the California Wheat Commission declares, "Claudia has been doing a great job and we are pleased that she has accepted the position as the new Executive Director. We are looking forward to her providing strong leadership for the wheat industry, with emphasis on market development, research and development of new and improved wheat varieties."

"I am very happy to represent California Wheat as the new Executive Director of the California Wheat Commission. I am positive that California wheat is one of the best in quality," says Carter.  "The great quality wheat we grow in California is thanks to all the hard work put toward wheat research and also thanks to the outstanding work done by our wheat growers. As the new Executive Director, I will continue with the legacy solidifying strong relationships with wheat growers, breeders, handlers, and all the wheat industry representatives.  We have a bright future for California Wheat ahead of us."

The California Wheat Commission was established under the California Food and Agriculture Code in 1983.  It is funded by the wheat growers and given direction by a board which includes thirteen wheat producers and two handlers - each with alternates - two at-large members, and one public member.  The purpose of the Wheat Commission is to develop and maintain international and domestic markets for California grown wheat, and support research which will improve California wheat quality and its marketability.
