The TriticeaeCAP project USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) awarded $25 million to develop new varieties of wheat and barley. The official name of the project is Triticeae Coordinated Agricultural Project (T-CAP). The T-CAP merges two large communities of US breeders: barley and wheat breeders, previously funded by the BarleyCAP and the WheatCAP programs respectively. As a result, researchers, breeders and educators across 21 states, from USDA and 55 universities compose the T-CAP consortium.
